Jatayu was not an eagle. He was great vulture. Him and his brother were considered vulture kings.

May 28, 2017 at 17:00 comment added user1195 @sv :-) Its not ravana's pov that matters, is it? dharma (and justice) is not about opinions and pov. If a drug dealer shoots a cop because the cop was about to draw fire, will he be acquitted on the basis of self-defense? He will be convicted on two counts- drug trafficking and homicide. (Probably others too such as violence against a law enforcement officer and what not. IANAL obvously).
Mar 6, 2017 at 13:19 comment added Say No To Censorship From Ravana's POV, he used it for self-defense not adharma.
Mar 6, 2017 at 5:24 comment added Sarvabhouma @sv. The criteria mentioned by Shiva has been fulfilled. Isn't abducting one's wife forcefully an adharma? It is misused and so it should have been returned to Shiva.
Mar 5, 2017 at 13:55 comment added Say No To Censorship If the sword did really return to Shiva, don't you think Valmiki would've mentioned it? To use the sword in the main battle against Rama he needs to be very close but he wasn't which is why the sword is not mentioned again.
