Dec 20, 2018 at 5:09 comment added user9969 But Vedanta Sutras are contradicting both the Vedas and Devi Bhagavatam then!!
Nov 21, 2017 at 6:13 comment added Suresh Ramaswamy Subsequent to the discovery of Manu Smriti in Circa 550 CE, the later Guptas started strictly following birth based caste system and not the Vedic Varna System. So even if my Varna is Sudra, being Brahmin born I would be taught the Vedas - and so where does that that leave the Purana edict that Sudras should not recite the Vedas!!!!!!
Nov 21, 2017 at 6:06 comment added Suresh Ramaswamy Which should be given more weightage - Vedas or Smriti/Puranas. The Vedic concept of Varna - not Caste - is dictated by the profession of the practitioner - hence the son of a Brahmin instead of being a learned teacher may be a good General or a successful businessman. His Varna is then changed to Kshatriya or Vaisya. and if he indulges in manual labour for livelihood his varna would be Sudra - even though born of Brahmin parents. However the later text 'Manu Smriti' (written records 100 BCE) dictates Caste not Varna. Vedas - RIk- circa 2500 BCE is older. Which should be followed.

Oct 17, 2017 at 17:33 comment added user9554 @KarmanyaNanda I mean, this verse has nothing to do with everybody can hear Vedas or not.
Oct 17, 2017 at 17:06 comment added Karmanya Nanda @ajay why I will go against vedas:p, i am a Hindu I consider them highest authority I just mean to say that this Veda verse says that all 4 casts can hear them and shudras can hear vedas by a brahmana but if smriti says that shudras can t even hear vedas so these smriti verses need to be rejected.
Oct 17, 2017 at 16:55 comment added user9554 @Karmanya Nanda so, you are saying a shukla yajur vedi is wrong. He only told me, Vedas are nothing to do in whether saying anyone can read Vedas, or else only Brahmans, Kshatriyas and vaishiyas.
Oct 17, 2017 at 16:12 comment added Karmanya Nanda @ajay I think it does means vedas beacause the sages are saying may I speak the sacred word to 4 catses and sages are referring to the words said in vedas.
