Jul 17, 2019 at 3:23 comment added Say No To Censorship @Ikshvaku According to CE: 1) It wasn't a svayamvara (no choosing of groom). Draupadi was the prize and Arjuna won her. Rules of the game were set by Drupada so only Arjuna can win the prize. 2) Arjuna was in guise of a brahmana, so it was open to all varnas. Drupada wasn't sure if it was really Arjuna who had won Draupadi so he wonders what could be the varna of the winner? Could it be a shudra too? To confirm, he sends an an emissary. Yudhishtira still doesn't reveal their identity. He says Draupadi was won according to the rules of the game so knowing their caste now is pointless.
Jul 17, 2019 at 3:11 comment added Say No To Censorship @Vikas Did you read my answer properly? The name of the parva is "Dyūta Parva" so the text I quoted is from the dice game episode only.

Jul 17, 2019 at 1:39 comment added Ikshvaku Does the mention about the swayamvara accepting all castes and having to choose the victor regardless of his caste occur in the Bengal and Bombay manuscripts (sacred texts edition)? Like do these manuscripts mention the acceptance of all castes, but also mention draupadi rejecting karna based on his caste?
Jul 17, 2019 at 1:07 comment added Say No To Censorship See Which recension of Mahābhārata did K M Ganguli use for his translation? @Ikshvaku
Jul 17, 2019 at 1:06 comment added Ikshvaku Ah ok interseting. The mahabharata on scared-texts is not the critical edition? Which manuscript is it then?
Jul 16, 2019 at 23:18 comment added Say No To Censorship No she didn't. See this answer. @Ikshvaku
Jul 16, 2019 at 23:09 comment added Ikshvaku Karna hated Draupadi because she denied him entry into the swayamvara competition because she thought he was low caste (soota).
