Deity in Vishnu temples are installed facing either East or West. Exception to this is Lord Ranganatha of Srirangam who faces South as per the promise made to Vibhishana. The moorthy of Lord Rama in Triplicane Parthasarathy temple also faces South. The question is whether the Vaishnava agamas, either Pancharatra or Vaikhanasa, allow for installing deities facing South?
