If a person dies, then the jiva residing inside the body leaves the body. It may go to heaven, hell, new body, etc.,

But is it true that some jivas without realizing its recent death still wants to enter into the dead body?

They're still very much attached to their body which they inhabited for 100 years. That's why they stay in Preta (ghost/aavi/spirit) form until the body is burnt. Once there is no hope of going back to its original body, then it starts accustoming to the Pinda body - that is formed when those performing last rites offer rice + ellu (sesame). With that pinda body it goes to yama lok, where judgement is pronounced, and it enjoys or suffers using that body. – ram Jun 4 at 22:05
