4If it is for Siddhi purpose, mantra should be received as initiation and then Guru can guide how much to chant and things like that (or you may receive instructions with other mediums, like in your dreams)...– TezzCommented Sep 14, 2020 at 4:33

3See this answer. For mantra siddhi first diksha, then purascharan is to be done. How many times a particular mantra is to be chanted during purascharan depends on the mantra itself. But usually 1 lakh is the prescribed number not 10.– RickrossCommented Sep 14, 2020 at 5:36

I personally know someone who had done 'Om Namo Bhagwatey Vasudevaay' 1.25 crore times and had attained Siddhi in Astrology. So I think reciting 10 lakh times is less, nevertheless, it will obviously be beneficial.– VATCommented Sep 13 at 7:50

Yes, the Sadhaka shall attain perfection in the Mantra provided a few conditions are met:
- The Mantra is chanted with profound contemplation or devotion.
- The Mantra does not require diksha or initiation (when chanted by one who isn't initiated).
- The Mantra reverberates through the Sushumna-nadi (channel).
- The Sadhaka has the mercy of a Guru and/or the direct mercy of the Lord (Deity of the Mantra).
mantrarnave- pasu-bhave sthita mantrah kevalam varna-rupinah | saushumnadhvany uccaritah prabhutvam prapnuvanti hi ||160||
In the Mantrarnava, it is stated that: “Those who chant the Mantra while simply uttering the syllables but not meditating on their meaning, are chanting the Mantra in animalistic consciousness. But the utterance of the Mantra with profound contemplation on its meaning arising through the sushumna (subtle nerve channel) which runs from the base of the spine to the crown of the head enables the chanter to attain mastery and perfection over the art of chanting if the mercy of the Lord is there.”

“When someone performs Japa Yoga with the sound vibration of the Mantra passing through and arising from the hole of the sushumna nadi (channel), then one becomes a sage and attains mastery and success in Japa Yoga chanting if one has the mercy of the Lord.”
