I am asking this question due to the confusion between popular notion in current society and the scriptural references.
Consider the following statement by Vyasa in the Mahabharatha
(The house-holder) should never summon his wife to bed except in her season.
It is clearly saying that one can order the female partner to participate in sex during her menstrual cycle. And should not order her any other time. But, there is a popular (and also obvious) notion and some scriptural statements that women should not participate in sex during her season. Both seem contradictory to me.
Am I going wrong anywhere? Which one is correct?
Or any separate context is needed to understand in totality?
