I dislike the current way information on Sanskrit Grammar is presented. I am wondering if there are good summary books on medieval texts to teach kids Sanskrit from the absolute basics translated into English. Other than that any good dictionaries by medieval scholars translated?

The Samskrita Bharati is one way to begin. It starts from the very basics at level 1 - प्रवेश (Praveśa) and goes into advanced topics at level 4 - कोविद (Kovida). Lessons are available for free on Youtube.

One can use the vocabulary built along the way to read Sanskrit texts. Vedabase.io is a good source for the word to word Sanskrit meanings of the verses.

The courses by Shanker Iyer ji on Udemy are an excellent source and go into analysis of the Vishnu Puranam in the advanced course.

Another option is using the Harinamamrita Vyakarana written by Jiva Goswami.

Lastly, a good Sanskrit teacher would definitely be helpful.

  • Samskrita Bharati is an initiative and has 1 book per level to prepare for exams.

  • Well, I am more of a freelance learner, but I want to be based on traditional writings or medieval texts at the very least 17th to 18th century.
