Vedanta is one of the āstika schools of Hindu philosophy, based on the Upanishads and the Brahma Sutras.

Vedanta comes from the words "veda" meaning knowledge and "anta" meaning end. Vedanta is one of the six āstika (orthodox) schools of Hindu philosophy. Vedanta is considered the last segment of knowledge in the Vedas. There are various sub-schools of Vedanta primarily Advaita, Vishishtadvaita and Dvaita.
