History has enlightened men who left the mitya and chose to stay with the truth perpetually and then there are other enlightened men who choose to work for waking up others. When they experience the world as a mitya why would they work for the betterment of men who are part of mitya. Working for the betterment of other men is like creating duality again.

that is advaita philosophy of mitya. maya is a better term to help understand in mode of duality.– ramCommented May 29, 2022 at 17:18

It's because the jivatmas living in forgetfulness of their real identity (Brahman) are very much real and not illusion. The enlightened beings can see their suffering and hence work to awaken others on receiving a higher calling from the Paramatma.– HariharaCommented Sep 3 at 18:40

It is because of the enlightened man's Prarabdha karma. Actions of the past which are still to ripe or are ripening.
If a person buys a raffle ticket today, becomes enlightened tomorrow and wins a lot of money next week, that person will recieve the money and their life will inevitably change (regardless of enlightenment).
Similarly any past action which renders the enlightened being subject to help 'others' will still happen. The enlightened being will continue to act, they will not be concerned.
The difference is that the enlightened being has no attachment to the result of helping or not helping someone else. It matters not if they serve Brahman through mithya ot not. They know it is just movements in nature (prakriti), there's nothing to fear, nothing to avoid, no where to run to and nothing to trully gain. With this there is liberation and ananda (bliss).
